Install Blue
Blue runs on macOS and Linux. There are two ways to install it.
With Homebrew
Section titled “With Homebrew”brew install bluelang-org/tap/blueHomebrew installs Java for Blue if you don’t have it.
With a download
Section titled “With a download”Each release has a download for each system, with its own Java inside, so you need nothing else:
| System | File |
|---|---|
| macOS, Apple silicon | blue-VERSION-macos-arm64.tar.gz |
| macOS, Intel | blue-VERSION-macos-x64.tar.gz |
| Linux, x64 | blue-VERSION-linux-x64.tar.gz |
| Linux, arm64 | blue-VERSION-linux-arm64.tar.gz |
Unpack it anywhere, and put its bin folder on your PATH:
tar xzf blue-VERSION-macos-arm64.tar.gzexport PATH="$PWD/blue-VERSION/bin:$PATH"If you already have Java 25 or later, blue-VERSION.tar.gz is the same without Java.
Check it
Section titled “Check it”blue doctorblue doctor checks what Blue needs and says what to fix:
